What is Travel Soccer?

Travel soccer is for players seeking more intensive, development-driven training, playing with and against higher-level competition, and being led by professionally licensed coaches. This means the level of play is more advanced, and that the players' development is expected to exceed that of players in recreational soccer. However, it does not mean our Travel program is focused on winning; it is focused on long-term student-athlete development.

What Is Expected of You?

If you make the travel team, you are expected to be fully committed. That commitment means that you must attend all practices, games, and tournaments during the fall primary soccer season. It is anticipated that your parent(s) will facilitate your participation and attend all events related to games and tournaments with you. Conflicts, such as other sports or social commitments, are expected to be resolved in favor of travel team commitments. We encourage players to participate in additional sports outside of the primary fall soccer season and expect them to honor their obligations to those sports in the winter and spring. Each team will set expectations for off-season play, and potential conflicts should be discussed directly with each coach.

In addition to a participation commitment, there is also a financial commitment.

Where are Games Played?

Virginia Phoenix Elite FC teams play in an in house league while developing, attending tournaments to measure and compete against season teams in the NCSL, VSL, and NPL In our case, . Most games are held in northern Virginia. In some cases, games may be scheduled up to 1 hour apart, typically once per season or every other season.

Tournaments can be local or may require travel.
